Cheryl Farnsworth
Hi There! And thank you for visiting my Author Page and supporting my books! My name is Cheryl Farnsworth aka Cheri to friends and family.
I moved recently with my husband and mini schnauzer DASH to New Hampshire, which is sort of what inspired my creation of RODNEY’S BIG MOVE (book one in the new series Tales from Spruce Hollow) Moving is never easy whether you are young or just young at heart, and Rodney Raccoon also has to contend with leaving his best friend behind AND beginning kindergarten; tough circumstances that are common for children everywhere.
My professional life also inspired my two books and the one I am currently writing.
I have been an educator for 24 years. My love affair with reading and words inspired me to seek an M.Ed. as a Literacy Specialist and I have worked in both middle and elementary schools helping students learn to read and learn to LOVE reading.
My research has lead me to want to focus on early literacy skills, which inspired my AARDVARKS to ZEBRAS Alphabet book- (along with my personal muse, my granddaughter, Zoe Clementine). I know that kids and adults learn best when they are having a good time and having their funny bone tickled. It is my wish that adults/parents will read the book with their youngsters and emphasize the humorous alliteration and quirky secret life of these “alphabet animals.” Children develop a love of reading and books by watching their parents read. The best thing you can do for your child’s literacy development is to read to them and share your love of language and story. It is never too early to introduce them to sophisticated word usage!
